Step 1: Check Wheel Rim

Repair Scope: Aluminum alloy wheel rims with original factory coating, etc.

Applicable to wheel rims of various sizes and shapes...

Step 2: Remove Tire

1. Remove the tire first.

2. Release tire air pressure.

3. Squeeze the tire flat, then use a tire changer to remove the rim (prevents water seepage into the tire during repair).

Step 3: Inspect Rim Damage

Prep: Prepare paint matching the rim’s original color.

(I) For Rims with Chips

Procedure for Special Chip Repair Material

1. Sand and clean the damaged area.

2. Take material based on damage size (Note: Avoid repairing if chip width/depth >3cm; slightly deepen shallow chips with a hacksaw for firmness).

3. Knead the material soft and even; remove small hard particles for better results.

4. Press the material tightly into the chip, filling according to the rim shape.

5. Heat-dry with special equipment; short-wave infrared lamp works better.

6. After full curing (20 mins at >25℃), sand with 180-320 grit sandpaper to restore shape. Spray quick-dry 2K auto primer, sand again, repair with rim putty. Once cured, sand smooth, spray aluminum paint (dry), then special repair material. (Note: Fully dry all primer steps to avoid surface hardness issues.)

(II) For Rims with Scratches, Yellowing or Cracks (No Chips)

1. Use sandpaper of different grits based on damage.

2. Fill scratches with rim repair putty.

3. Dry with special equipment.

4. Sand sequentially with 180#-320# sandpaper.

5. Sand the entire rim to matte with 600#/800# dry sandpaper.

6. Spray special rim primer on filled scratches.

7. Dry at 100-120℃ for 60 mins in equipment.

8. Sand to matte again.

Step 5: Edge Sealing

1. Cover the rim with universal masking film.

2. Wipe the rim surface with degreaser.

3. Dry with equipment.

4. Wipe off surface dust with a dust-free cloth.

Step 6: Spray Primer & Color Paint

1. Spray primer evenly on the whole rim or damaged area. After drying, check for pinholes and fill with putty (Note: Prohibit "pinhole-filling red putty").

2. Spray prepared color paint evenly on the rim.

Step 7: Spray Special Repair Material

1. Prepare special rim repair material.

2. Pour the material into a special repair spray gun.

3. Adjust gun atomization.

4. Spray evenly on the rim surface in one go (usually 2 coats).

5. Bake in oven at 100℃ for 60 mins.

Step 8: Inspect Rim

1. Check for small dust particles on the rim surface.

2. If any, lightly sand with 2000# wet sandpaper.

3. Polish with a high-speed polisher and a little microcrystalline polishing glaze.

4. Wipe the rim with a clean towel and check if it’s shiny.

Step 9: Installation

1. Install the tire.

2. Inflate to full pressure, perform dynamic balancing, then install.
